Sean Neville, co-founder of stablecoin issuer Circle and CEO of Catena, has secured $18 million in funding to develop what he describes as the first fully regulated AI-native financial institution. The round attracted prominent investors, including Balaji Srinivasan and Tom Brady, signaling strong institutional interest in bridging AI and finance.
Catena’s vision centers on building a financial infrastructure tailored for the AI economy, serving both AI agents and human participants. The funds will accelerate development of the institution’s regulatory framework and underlying technology, positioning it at the intersection of decentralized finance and artificial intelligence.
